    Homotopy limits for 2-categories

    Get PDF
We study homotopy limits for 2-categories using the theory of Quillen model categories. In order to do so, we establish the existence of projective and injective model structures on diagram 2-categories. Using these results, we describe the homotopical behaviour not only of conical limits but also of weighted limits. Finally, pseudo-limits are related to homotopy limits

On the trace of an endofunctor of a small category

    Get PDF
The trace of a square matrix can be defined by a universal property which, appropriately generalized yields the concept of "trace of an endofunctor of a small category". We review the basic definitions of this general concept and give a new construction, the "pretrace category", which allows us to obtain the trace of an endofunctor of a small category as the set of connected components of its pretrace. We show that this pretrace construction determines a finite-product preserving endofunctor of the category of small categories, and we deduce from this that the trace inherits any finite-product algebraic structure that the original category may have. We apply our results to several examples from Representation Theory obtaining a new (indirect) proof of the fact that two finite dimensional linear representations of a finite group are isomorphic if and only if they have the same character

Formal deformations of Poisson structures in low dimensions

    Get PDF
In this paper, we study formal deformations of Poisson structures, especially for three families of Poisson varieties in dimensions two and three. For these families of Poisson structures, using an explicit basis of the second Poisson cohomology space, we solve the deformation equations at each step and obtain a large family of formal deformations for each Poisson structure which we consider. With the help of an explicit formula, we show that this family contains, modulo equivalence, all possible formal eformations. We show moreover that, when the Poisson structure is generic, all members of the family are non-equivalent

The existence of periodic solutions of a two dimensional Lattice

    Get PDF
We consider a two dimensional lattice coupled with nearest neighbor interaction potential of power type. The existence of infinite many periodic solutions is shown by using minimax methods

Generic super-exponential stability of invariant tori in Hamiltonian systems

    Get PDF
In this article, we consider solutions starting close to some linearly stable invariant tori in an analytic Hamiltonian system and we prove results of stability for a super-exponentially long interval of time, under generic conditions. The proof combines classical Birkhoff normal forms and a new method to obtain generic Nekhoroshev estimates developed by the author and L. Niederman in another paper. We will mainly focus on the neighbourhood of elliptic fixed points, the other cases being completely similar

Well-posedness and invariant measures for HJM models with deterministic volatility and Lévy noise

    Get PDF
We give sufficient conditions for existence, uniqueness and ergodicity of invariant measures for Musiela's stochastic partial differential equation with deterministic volatility and a Hilbert space valued driving Lévy noise. Conditions for the absence of arbitrage and for the existence of mild solutions are also discussed

Periodic solutions of second-order differential inclusions systems with p-Laplacian

    Get PDF
Some existence results are obtained for periodic solutions of nonautonomous second-order differential inclusions systems with p-Laplacia

Petits points et conjecture de Bogomolov

    Get PDF
This paper is devoted to the statement known as the Bogomolov conjecture on small points. We present the outline of Zhang's proof of the generalized version of the conjecture. An explicit bound for the height of a non-torsion variety of an abelian variety is obtained in the frame of Arakelov theory. Some further developments are mentioned

The bogomolov conjecture for totally degenerate Abelian varieties

    Get PDF
We prove the Bogomolov conjecture for a totally degenerate abelian variety A over a function field. We adapt Zhang's proof of the number field case replacing the complex analytic tools by tropical analytic geometry. A key step is the tropical equidistribution theorem for A at the totally degenerate place
